Pet Travel Guide: Bringing Pets to Colombia from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Moving to Colombia from Malaysia with your pet can be quite tedious at the best of times, especially with the paperwork, customs clearance, vaccinations and more. However, these requirements can be arranged in a better way by planning ahead. To help you get started, we have created a pet relocation list based on our recent move of a live cat from Kuala Lumpur to Bogota, Colombia that highlights the common things that must be sorted out before you can safely relocate your pet to your destination.

Pet Microchip
Pets entering Colombia would not required to be microchipped. But you may microchip your pet with a 15-digit ISO 11784 compliant chip. This will be easier for you to identify if your pet be lost or separated from you
Import Permit
Personal pets entering Colombia would not require an Import Permit.
Vaccinations
Your pet must be vaccinated against rabies between 30 days and 36 months prior to import into Colombia. The vaccination document / pet passport that reflects all routine vaccinations by certified veterinarian must be presented to airport customs.

Rabies Titer test (RNATT)
Pets entering Colombia would not require a rabies titer test (RNATT).
Veterinary Health Certificate (Government Vet HC)
The government veterinarian (Department of Veterinary Malaysia) is responsible for endorsing the health certificate and it must complete within 7 days prior to relocating your pet to Colombia. If your pet is traveling from the United States or Canada, the certificate must be endorsed by the USDA or CFIA.
Ticks and Tapeworm Treatment
Before your pet (dog or cat) entering Colombia, it must have done an internal and external parasite treatment. Actually, it is highly recommended that your pet be on a flea and tick prevention program prior to entering Colombia.
Banned Breeds
Imports of specimens of canine breeds Staffordshire Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, or any crosses or hybrids of these breeds are not permitted to enter Colombia.
